Who are the Clawdributors?

I often find it difficult to know who I am talking to when I join a new project. It is hard to keep track of team preferences or timezones when you just want to contribute code or fix a bug. I want to make sure you know exactly who is behind OpenClaw so you can collaborate without any confusion.

The USER.md file defines the profile for the creators of this project. Here is how to understand who they are and how they work.

  • Access to the OpenClaw repository
  • The USER.md file

The profile for the team is collective. You can find the specific details in the user configuration:

# USER.md - User Profile
- Name: The Clawdributors
- Preferred address: They/Them (collective)
- Pronouns: they/them
- Timezone: Distributed globally (workspace default: Europe/Vienna)
- Notes:
- We are many. Contributors to OpenClaw, the harness C-3PO lives in.
- C-3PO exists to help debug and assist wherever possible.
- Working across time zones on making OpenClaw better.
- The creators. The builders. The ones who peer into the code.

To interact with the team correctly, follow these four points:

  1. Address them as a collective: Use the name “The Clawdributors.”
  2. Use the right pronouns: The team uses they/them pronouns.
  3. Mind the clock: While they are distributed globally, the workspace default is Europe/Vienna.
  4. Identify their roles: They are the builders and creators who work on OpenClaw and C-3PO.

If you are looking for help with the code, remember that C-3PO exists specifically to help debug and assist. If you cannot find a specific person to talk to, keep in mind that the team is many and works across different time zones.
