Getting Started with OpenClaw

I have spent too many hours fighting with complex installation processes just to see if a tool actually works. It is frustrating when you want to test a new project but get stuck in a maze of configuration files and dependency errors before you even reach the first “Hello World.” I prefer tools that stay out of the way so I can start building immediately.

To get started, you only need two things:

  • A terminal to run the installation.
  • Access to the OpenClaw documentation links.

You can reach your first chat in about five minutes. I recommend following the direct path to get the software running on your machine.

  1. Install OpenClaw: Follow the instructions in the Getting Started guide to set up the software.
  2. Run your first chat: Once the installation is finished, you can start your first chat session in minutes.

If you encounter issues during the setup or need to change specific settings:

  • Refer to the Onboarding Wizard for the full CLI wizard reference.
  • Review the advanced options provided in the wizard to fix configuration errors.

If you have specific questions about your environment, use the AI Setup Assistant.
