Setting Up Your OpenClaw Workspace
I know how it feels when you just want to start a project but get blocked by manual configuration. It is frustrating to spend time creating hidden folders and JSON files when you could be building. I prefer tools that handle the boilerplate for me so I can get straight to the work.

Quick Start
Section titled “Quick Start”I suggest using the setup command to prepare your environment. This command creates your ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json file and your agent workspace.
You can run the basic initialization with this command:
openclaw setupIf you want to use a specific directory for your agent workspace, use the workspace flag:
openclaw setup --workspace ~/.openclaw/workspaceI also recommend the wizard flag if you want a guided onboarding experience:
openclaw setup --wizardThis command ensures your configuration file is properly placed in your home directory.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”If your agent workspace is not initialized or the ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json file is missing, run the setup command. This process creates the required configuration files and the workspace directory for you.
