Manage OpenClaw Skills: List and Validate Requirements
Managing AI capabilities shouldn’t feel like a chore. If you have ever struggled to keep your local tools organized or spent too much time manually downloading scripts, you know the pain of a messy workspace. You need a straightforward way to add new powers to your agent without the headache.
The openclaw skills command is your main tool for inspecting what you have locally and pulling new features from ClawHub. It keeps your workspace clean and ensures your tools are ready to go.

These commands download skill folders and place them into your active workspace skills/ directory. This is the best way to quickly grab a specific version of a tool or keep your entire library current.
The list, info, and check commands work differently. They inspect the local skills already visible to your current workspace and configuration. Use these to verify your setup or see what is available to your agent right now.
It is important to note that this CLI install command specifically handles downloading skill folders. If you are using gateway-backed skill dependency installs triggered from the onboarding flow or Skills settings, the system uses a separate skills.install request path instead.
